I provide professional translations of all types of Japanese arms and armor appraisals, whose fee structure is quoted below:
NBTHK Hozon and Tokubetsu-Hozon (and earlier): $15
NTHK and NTHK (NPO): $30
Sayagaki and hakogaki: $30 (unless unusually lengthy)
NKBKHK: $30
Hon’ami origami: $30
NBTHK Jūyō and Tokubetsu-Jūyō: $40
Further, the translation of texts in general are $50 per letter page, unless the text is in classical Japanese (Bungo) or classical Chinese (Kanbun), for which a higher fee applies.
The fee of a translation of entire catalogs/books is negotiable (please note that in such a case, the copyright of the original text remains valid and that a translation for indidivual/private use must not be distributed, leased, or otherwise sold).
Regarding a consulting service in general, e.g., for assessing/cataloging a collection, an hourly fee of $125 applies. For a consultancy about the authenticity of signatures, a flat fee of $150 applies. Please note that I do not engage in sales and commissions in any form or extent, or assist with having objects sent to Japan for restoration and/or appraisal. Thank you very much for your understanding.
If your request lies outside of said scope, please don’t hesitate and get in touch with me at markus.sesko@gmail.com.
